Blender Tutorial: How to Turn HDRi to 3D ENVIRONMENT
In this tutorial I'll go through how to add hdri background and how you can easily project your interior or exterior environment texture to geometry and use it as a real 3D environment and build your 3D scene around that.

100 million sand particles were simulated for this cinematic scene. This teaches you how you can import and export simulation between Blender and Houdini and many more small tricks in Blender. You can use this workflow between Blender and Houdini to anything you can think of. Blender 3D Breakdown - Top Gun Scene

Tried to recreate a scene from Top Gun movie. Some serious struggle with the Ocean during the process. Rendered it about 8 times before satisfying result. It can start tiling so easily in large scenes like here. Made in Blender, rendered in Cycles. Light flares color grading some atmospheric mist compositing in After Effects. About 45secs per frame with RTX 2080 Ti Jet fighter model by Ameer St...

CG Jacket With Own Logo (turntable)
How did you make this and do you have any tutorials
No need to add Invert Color node. Just select "Flip Color Ramp".
I can't align the corners of the box to the hdri. i did it by trying to adjust the size of the box and the texture coordinates.
Absolutely life changing. Thank you!
Вы лучший! Спасибо за очень ценные знания!
This is great. Thanks!
heavy
next time tell us what your doing and not press everything and not telling us for example with the bevel tool ??? Tell us how to do it
Thanks for the feedback. Although I personally think it makes the tutorial bit more smooth and not-so-boring to everybody else than absolute beginners if I skip saying some of the basic stuff. That's why I have the screencast keys on the bottom left corner, so everybody can see what I'm pressing on my keyboard.
💩💩
Hyvä tutoriaali, kiitos tästä!
Hienoa jos jaksoit katsoa!
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This solves so many problems and creates so many possibilities...and I haven't even finished the video. Immediate sub, many many thanks for this.
Would anyone know why the lighting from my HDRI shows up in metallic reflection in the shading viewport but when I render the image it doens't show up in reflections or light. It's just a flat grey colour. I followed this tutorial. Like even the HDRI preview is Grey. I can't get the image to show up there. I can't get the HDRI to show up in the BG of viewport by unchecking scene world. So again the viewport rendering is great. I get reflections and lighting etc. But when I goto rendering tab and hit render it's flat lighting no reflections.
wow
i am unable to save to disk when exporting it says" Error Alembic export is only supported in Houdini Core and Houdini FX versions" what do i do?
You need licensed version of Houdini. Unfortunately you can't export alembic with apprentice version.

the tutorial is great idea that i never realize it 👍
The best video on the subject, period! I keep coming back to it :D
Damn
Great video. Although I have a problem when resizing the "room". The HDRI texture stretches with it instead of remaining in the same location.
Thanks! Make sure you resize it in edit mode, not in object mode.
Thank god
2gb per frame for bake? Oof
when trying to get the high render sand simulation i get the error 'could not open alembic archive for reading, see console for details, do you know how to fix
Thank you for this, was stuck on it for a long time!
Thank you! I didn't know HDRIs can be hacked this way, it is so cool and simple. definitely trying this instead of making heavy environment files haha.
wow. just wow. youtube really treats actually good ad useful youtubers bad.
Brilliant !
The alembic won't import, using 4.0. Any ideas, or is this now possible to make in Blender itself? This looks like the coolest tutorial I've come across yet!
Does it give some error message or how does it not import? I just tested with 4.0 and with 4.1 and I had no problems importing it.
@@tomiviitanen it just didn't import. I honestly don't know what else to say. I did try a tutorial about making a point cloud in blender. I exported it as an alembic but that wouldn't import either.
GPU?
Specs in the video description.
This tutorial is pure gold. Thanks a lot.
As others have said - this is an amazing technique and a really well put together turorial. I'd love to see more from you (or even a paid course - because the content would be well worth it IMO) Would you be able to share your Cycles render settings and system spec? Your viewer seems wayyyyyyy faster than mine. I have a fairly decent system and was just curious how you had optimized stuff in the viewer render for cycles.
Great tutorial! One question on the exterior scene: Is the second material slot needed if the first material is blending emission and diffuse anyway?
wow wow wow! awesome
Amazing work
I use this "everyday" since before that (2017 ) : ua-cam.com/video/RSC40B8kHT/v-deo.html, glad if you popularize it 🤞👍
WOW
i am not capable to expoet alembic rop export beacaue of aprentics verstion of houdini please help
Yes, unfortunately thats one of the limitations of apprentice version. You'll just have to get licensed version of Houdini.
Disgusting but well done anyways lol
What did that elephant eat??
Judging by the looks of the excrement, I'm pretty confident it was some vegan chipotle burrito with extra vegan meat.
Tip: If you have any objects in the middle of your HDRI scene that look flat, using photoshop generative fill to remove them.
Todella hyvä video!
Amazing tutorial! I have a little problem when I change the Texture coordinate to "object", the dome turned to a mess with straps. Did anyone knows what happened? I tested with many HDR, even with the one he uses on tutorial
Forget it guys. I was using "Image texture" instead of "environment texture", and this was messing and repeating the image like tiles.
you're the man! that's so awesome! but I didn't see the 2 eevee renderers. it's only 1 also in 4.1
Is it possible any other way to make the exterior hdri have shadows for the object? Every time I render it, there is no shadows underneath the subject because the hdri has an emission shader so I have to edit it in Photoshop. (I've tried to fix the problem many times)

Not working in eeve
Stop stop with the shitting . I can almost smell it. Lol
i've spent one day to try to allign my hdri inside the cube, moving, trying and retrying, starting from roof, or floor like u did. NOTHING, impossible. how can i fix this? how possible is so difficult to fit the HDRI inside that cube? i even tried to move the faces as u did, nothing still. i thought you had a more simple HDRI to fit bc is square, ur gym, but i took a kitchen that looks square as well but its pretty impossible to me to allign. i've rewatched ur video like 5 times too. any tips? thanks
Sounds like your coordinates are not correct. This hdri in video is just the most simple example because its perfect rectangle and obviously it gets more difficult with more than 4 walls, but should still be doable. Is your kitchen hdri downloadable from somewhere? I would like to try with that and come back to you how you could get it to work.
@@tomiviitanen yes i've got it in the same site as you. I looked inside the indoor, it has like red lights on windows or smth. I've tried also with a church and looked imossible. I'd like to see how you would managed to deal with that kitchen
@@tomiviitanen should i start adding cuts and deform the cube too to get the good results?
And are you sure you used environment texture node instead of image texture node?
@@tomiviitanen yes did everything like you like 6 times. Even with orher hdris. I followed ur video step by step. I almost alligned it but still not correct.
ah hwo i never tried this before, man i ahve some new ideas now!
Amazing tutorial
